The Truth About Negative Calorie Diets
Are there really negative calorie diets and foods?
In the weight loss world, people often talk about the idea of “negative calories”. Strictly speaking, all foods contain a certain amount of calories, but some say that foods that use more calories to digest than the food actually contains have negative calories. In theory, the more negative calorie foods that you eat, the more weight you’ll lose.
Unfortunately, you won’t see cookies on a list of negative calorie foods. Foods that have negative calories are ones that are already very low in calories, and that usually contain a lot of fiber. Primarily, this means fruits and vegetables. Examples of negative calorie foods include broccoli, celery, lettuce, asparagus, and strawberries.
While it’s true that these foods take more calories to digest than they have, it’s rather difficult to eat a diet that consists entirely of negative calorie foods. Many people will feel too hungry on this type of diet. However, if you want to look into it, you’ll want to check out the Negative Calorie Diet or another diet that is based on the raw foods concept.
Still, there’s certainly no harm in eating these negative calorie foods. Because they are all fruits and vegetables, they are high in nutrition, having a good nutrient density (high nutritional value per calorie). Furthermore, when you eat negative calorie foods, it means that you aren’t eating other types of foods that may not be as good for you.
So fill up your shopping cart with fruits and veggies. Base your meals around these foods rather than meat or pastas. Make sure to take these raw vegetables with you to eat as snacks whenever hunger hits. Doing this will ensure that you get the nutrition you need, never feel hungry, and still eat few enough calories to lose the weight that you need to lose. As you eat more and more negative calorie foods, you’ll find that you start to feel better and more energetic. But the best part is that when you are on negative calorie diets, you can eat as much of these foods as you want.
