If you want to lose belly fat fast, you have to both watch your diet and do a lot of exercises. And if you want a really flat stomach, you’ll have to be pretty strict about both. Fortunately, for those that are willing to put in the effort, you will be able to see results.

Start by doing some type of intense cardio work. You’ll never slim down your belly if you don’t get rid of the layer of fat on it. You need to do this through cardio exercise. The harder you work, the more calories you burn, so try to choose activities that are intense, such as jogging, swimming, or cycling. If you choose walking as your exercise, be sure that you are working hard at it. Your heart rate should increase.

If you’re not seeing the results you want from regular cardio exercise, try out high intensity interval training. These types of workouts are shorter, but they work your body harder. Some even say that you end up burning calories after the workout has finished. To do HIIT, alternate high intensity activity with recovery periods, such as 20 seconds of sprinting with a minute of light jogging to recover.

You’ll also need to do some core building exercises to define the muscles in your stomach. Pilates is a great exercise for toning your tummy muscles. Get a pilates video to follow at home in your spare time. You only need to do the routine three times a week to see results.

To really define your waist, choose abdominal exercises that focus on the obliques–the side ab mucles. Bicycle crunches are a great example of an exercise that works your obliques.

Of course, all of this needs to be combined with a proper diet. While you shouldn’t have to severely limit the amount of foods that you eat, you do need to be careful. You should focus your diet on healthy foods and only eat the occasional treat. When you do this, you’ll soon start seeing the results that you want and you should be able to lose belly fat fast.
