There is really only one way to get rid of love handles and other areas of unwanted fat, especially if you want them to stay gone. Yes, it means making some little changes every day.

We all know that what we eat is important but sometimes the thought of eating healthy feels overwhelming. We may wish that we were the type of person that eats an apple on their way to the gym, but the truth is that we’re hitting the drive-through for the third time this week, trying to juggle all of the different hats that we wear. You may have even bought a cart full of vegetables with the best of intentions, only to have a majority of it go bad because you never got around to using it.

You’re not alone.

Completely overhauling your lifestyle can be one of the most difficult things to do, and it is better not even to try to do it all at once. You may have some good motivation for this change, but unless it’s a life-threatening disease, it can be hard to keep up with the changes.

If you really want to get rid of love handles for a more attractive shape, the key is to make changes in simple steps that are easy to implement. For example, we all know that drinking water is an important step to a healthy diet, but if you hate drinking water, it’s hard to get the recommended eight daily glasses. Instead of giving up your preferred beverage completely, start by drinking just one glass of water as a replacement. Over time, you can increase the amount of water and decrease the amount of less healthy drinks.

Another way to eat healthier foods is to pack a good lunch for work or school rather than buying from restaurants in the area. This can save money too but it can be a daunting task for someone that hasn’t done it before. So, rather than going gung-ho and trying to commit to bringing your lunch every day, commit to just a few days a week and see how it goes. Alternatively, create a “Take Your Lunch to Work Week” to challenge yourself to bring lunch every day for a week. After the week is up, you’re free to buy lunch again, at least for one or two days a week.

If you try to change too much at once, you are more likely to fail. Trying to do everything is overwhelming and will make your old lifestyle seem more attractive. When you start by making these small changes to your life, though, it’s easier to stick with it. In just a short period of time, you can make these healthy habits a part of your life and get rid of love handles and unwanted fat without feeling you have had to sacrifice anything.
