It’s well-known that walking can be one of the exercises that help you get in shape. If you haven’t exercised for a long time, then this may be the best way to start exercising to lose weight. However, many people do not walk fast enough to get a good workout from walking. If you’re going to walk for exercise, then you have to pick up the speed. You need to be walking at a pace that would make it hard to have a conversation.

However, jogging is probably one of the best weight loss exercises. On a per-minute basis, it’s hard to find an exercise that burns more calories than running. Many people find the idea of jogging intimidating. You may have had the experience of trying to do too much too fast, which can hurt your body. Like anything else, jogging is something that most people have to work up towards. Look for a jogging training program that allows you to build your skills by alternating short periods of jogging with walking. Look to the Couch to 5K program in particular. Once you’re able to jog for 30-60 minutes, it makes an excellent exercise for weight loss.

If you want the most bang for your buck, though, you want to try High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT. In HIIT, you alternate short bursts of exercises with longer recovery periods. For example, you may jog for a five minute warm-up, then sprint for just 20 seconds, followed by a 2 minute recovery period of slower jogging. If you are doing HIIT right, then you only need to do it for around 20-30 minutes, three times a week. This type of exercise has been known to continue its fat-burning effect long after you have finished the exercise.

Ultimately, the best exercises for weight loss are the ones that you enjoy and that you will stick with. After all, if you’re doing an exercise that bores you to tears, you’re not likely to stick with the program. But if you really want to make the most out of your exercise routine, you’ll try the above weight loss exercises.
